VMware Inc. provides virtualisation software and services, as well as cloud computing solutions. Its virtualisation software was first released back in 1998. VMware Inc. was originally founded by Diane Greene, Mendel Rosenblum, Scott Devine, Ellen Wang and Edouard Bugnion in 1998, and was acquired by EMC in 2004, which subsequently became a subsidiary company of Dell Technologies in 2016.
Its desktop software, which includes a number of different versions, run on Microsoft Windows, Linux and MacOS operating systems, and is said to provide the widest support for guest operating systems, including various versions of Microsoft Windows and Linux.
